About Us
Formed in 2019 by Sinclair College music faculty Chris Braun, Bill Burns and John Parcell the Innovation jazz combo has become a fixture for sharing jazz throughout the greater Dayton region. The mission of Innovation is to entertain and educate people on the great American art form of jazz. Innovation strives to present a fresh picture of jazz and its many forms in every performance through historical song arrangements and original compositions. Innovation's current lineup includes Chris Braun on trumpet and flugelhorn, Eddie Brookshire on bass, John Parcell on drums, Brenda Flowers on vocals and trombone, and Kareem Powell on piano. Other members include Bill Burns on baritone saxophone and Cameron Voorhees on guitar. Innovation strives to reach people of all ages and backgrounds and regularly presents clinics and concerts at schools, nursing homes and retirement communities in addition to various concert venues. Past performances include the 2019 Tornado Relief Benefit Concert at the Riverscape, Troy Main Street, Wright Library Music Series, Uptown Centerville, Juneteenth Celebration at the Randolph and McCulloch Freedom’s Struggle Complex, and Edison State’s Fifty Fest to name a few.
